The 35th Signal Brigade is the largest signal unit in the world and was the only airborne signal brigade in the United States Army. The brigade was previously based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and provided rapidly deployable force projection signal support, and rapid communications for Army, Joint, and Combined Operations. On 23 April 2007, the 35th Signal Brigade relocated to Fort Gordon, Georgia, and the 93rd Signal Brigade was reflagged as the 35th Signal Brigade. Its parent unit is Army Forces Command[1].

The new mission statement of the 35th Signal Brigade states the unit "has the mission to deploy, install, operate, and maintain a tactical theater communications package worldwide while supporting joint and combined operations."[2]
The 35th Signal Brigade was initially formed as the 931st Signal Battalion in 1943. It deployed to India, and supported Allied forces in the India-Burma region, earning the Meritorious Unit Commendation for its actions. Following the war, the 931st was deactivated in India, in 1945. The 931st was reactivated in 1967, and renamed the 35th Signal Group, based at Fort Bragg. The 35th Signal Group was reorganized as the 35th Signal Brigade on 16 December 1979.
The 35th Signal Brigade deployed to Saudi Arabia in support of XVIII Airborne Corps during Operation Desert Storm in 1991. The brigade earned a second Meritorious Unit Commendation for its participation in the campaign. The brigade has also deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq, supporting the XVIII Corps, in Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
The brigade's insignia was approved on 23 May 1980. Concurrent with its mission change and loss of Airborne status, the Airborne tab was deleted on 11 December 2006.[4]
The 35th Signal Brigade was inactivated at Fort Bragg, North Carolina on 12 April 2007, and reactivated at Fort Gordon, Georgia, on 23 April 2007, by reflagging the existing 93rd Signal Brigade.[5]
